01. How do I Access HoudiniESQ with my Mobile device or iPadAA-00282
You can access HoudiniESQ Basic Mobile from your iPhone, iPad, Android, or Windows 8 device. Logging into HoudiniESQ Mobile Mobile Login
You and your staff can access your data on just about every mobile device. There is an exception however, most devices that have their own native browsers do not work well since they do not adhere to the new internet HTML5 standards. For example, on the HTC OneX phone running Android the default browser does not draw elements quickly or correctly. The best way to avoid any display issues is to use a rock solid browser built on modern standards such as Safari or Chrome on your mobile devices.
Other browsers such as Opera and Dolphin work as well but Safari and Chrome work best. This should be short-lived since most browsers are all working hard to support HTML5. On Windows 8 devices the new IE Browser works fine. The older IE Browser will not work. Accessing the mobile interface on your Android device or iPhone and iPad is easy. Just point Safari, IE, or Chrome on the device to this url. http://houdiniesq.com/cloud (Bookmark login screen on phone!)
From here, the instructions differ depending on whether you are an On-Premise/Solo or SaaS user.
For SaaS/Cloud: If you are a Saas/Cloud user, simply enter the address that you would normally use to access HoudiniEsq into the "Domain or URL" bar. This will be in the following format:
http://esq#.houdiniesq.com/yourinstancename/esq Where “#” is the server number you are on (should be 4 if you are a new SaaS user) and your instance name in place of “yourinstancename”.
In addition, enter the username and password you normally use to ensure that your login and password are correct. Keep in mind that they are case sensitive.
For On-Premise/Solo: If you are an On-Premise or Solo user, you will have to configure your network to allow remote access to the computer or server HoudiniEsq resides on in order to access the new mobile version. This can be done by opening the correct port (typically 80 or 8080) on your router and pointing it to the machine HoudiniEsq is running on. In addition, you will have to either use a static IP from your ISP, or a dynamic DNS solution to access your instance remotely. We recommend consulting an IT professional to set up these services. Once you have made your instance of HoudiniEsq publicly accessible you will type in the public link to access it in the "Domain or URL" box. From there, enter your username and password.
