Template Merge
One of the more advanced features of HoudiniESQ is the ability to use document templates for quick and easy document creation. We’re going to create a document using a template merge and store it in the IRIS repository, so click the Template Merge button.

Next, click the Type (and/or Subtype) of template you want to use (required), and Houdini will automatically filter the list of available document templates to that Type/Subtype. Select the template you wish to use, and then click “PDF” to upload a PDF version of the document to the IRIS repository. You can Edit the template using the pencil (edit) icon. Unless the template form is already a .docx, you will not be able to select that format. You can filter .docx templates using the checkbox in the upper right hand corner.

Your automatically-generated document based on the template you have chosen will appear in your IRIS Repository for the Matter.
Live Doc
The Live Doc feature will allow you more control over your template-created documents than a Template Merge. You can use the HoudiniESQ Add-In for Microsoft Word to drop data tokens into any .docx file, upload them to HoudiniESQ’s IRIS Repository, and then define the content of those tokens.
NOTE: Live Doc is ONLY available for .docx formatted files. PDF formatted forms cannot be created with Live Doc.
Click on the Live Doc button to bring up the Live Word Form window.

Selecting a Document will bring up forms based on the tokens within that document. The Matter will specify which Matter we are creating a document for; this will be auto-populated if accessing the Live Word Form window from the Docs tab under a Matter.
As you can see, the fields that appear will be auto-populated by data pulled from the Matter record. With the Live Doc feature, you can change or edit these fields to further customize or correct your document. Once you have finished making revisions, click the “Create” button. The document will appear in the IRIS Repository for that Matter.
Microsoft Word Integration
