If all you need is to import contacts we suggest you use the built in Import utility in HoudiniEsq. You can import Contacts, Events and Matters. Please keep in mind that relationships between Matters and Contacts are not maintained and custom fields can not be imported in this way. For complete data migrations services see below.
The HoudiniEsq Professional Services Team can migrate your Time Matters, Pro Law, Amicus, PCLaw, Abacus etc, data to HoudiniEsq. We can keep the data relationships intact so you can hit the road running.
How it works
We provide you with a FTP account. You create a SQL BAK file of your data and upload it to us. We then have an engineer perform a rudimentary analyses of your data and then provide you with a quote for basic data migration services. Generally the fee is just $792 US dollars for basic data migration form Time Matters not including any customized data fields. Depending on the data migration effort and the product you are migrating from this fee can be higher. Once payment has been received we begin the data migration process.
IMPORTANT: Not all types of records are included in a basic data migration. There may be additional charges for certain record types. For example, email and notes in some instances are stored differently and in proprietary formats. The same is true for some systems that store documents. There may be additional cost for migrating these sorts of records due to their complexity and the time consuming process of extracting and migrating such data. An Engineer will discuss this with you before your purchase and before any work has begun.
Once the basic data migration is complete we provide you with an instance of HoudiniEsq containing your firms data. You will be able to access this data online using HoudiniEsq. You will have 7 days to evaluate the data.
Please note: If the product you are migrating from does not store its data in a SQL database such as Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, Sybase, Informix, SQL Express, etc., we may not be able to migrate your data in some cases. For example, if you are using Time Maters Professional, we can only work with your data exported into CSV files. There is an additional cost for migrating data using CSV files.
If your data contains custom fields and you would like to have that data migrated as well we will discuss this with you after the basic data migration is completed. The fee for migrating custom data is extra and will depend on the amount of effort required to migrate the custom data to HoudiniEsq. Once we provide you with a quote we stand by that figure so there will never be any surprises.
If you would like custom data migrated we setup a training session so that you or your legal consultant can customize HoudiniEsq to hold your custom data. We do not know your firms workflow as well as you do -- nor are we familiar with your data so we do not customize HoudiniEsq, instead, we train you or your legal consultant to do it. The process is really easy and we will be with you the whole way. If you do not have a legal consultant we can provide you with the name of a HoudiniEsq Certified Consultant (ESQ CC) that can do the customizations for you. Most firms customize HoudiniEsq to fit their practice in just a few hours. Many have done so in just 30 minutes.
Once you have HoudiniEsq customized to fit your practice we then migrate the custom fields from your old product into the newly created custom field's you created in HoudiniEsq. This is called the data mapping process. Once this process (the creation of a migration script) is complete you will be able to see your custom data and workflow in HoudiniEsq. If all is to your liking you make payment for all services rendered (data migration services), we then provide you with your data in a HoudiniEsq database that can be dropped into any instance of Houdini, either On-premise or SaaS.
Important: Data Migration Services are in addition to HoudiniEsq licenses. We can not provide you with your migrated data until HoudiniEsq licenses have been purchased.
1 Call to reserve an Engineer. 2 Create a database BAK file using the SQL server not the product you are migrating from.
3 Zip up the BAK file and name it after the firm name e.g. myfirm.zip
4 Contact support at HoudiniEsq requesting a FTP account for data migration.
5 Upload the zipped BAK file.
6 Email support and inform them that you have uploaded your data and would like a data migration quote.
Important: You must accept the quote within 24 hours before your data is deleted from our systems.
