Customize Your View - MatterDesktop and MatterWidgets

The "My MatterDesktop" allows you to quickly and easily manage your Matters and all its related supporting records effortlessly with drag-n-drop simplicity. Customizing your view of your data has never been so easy and painless.

The MatterDesktop is not an actual desktop or workspace but rather a collection of Matter Widgets. Email, eDiscovery, Documents, To-Do's, Events, Notes and Contacts for example that you place in a workspace. You arrange and size them as you see fit. The entire collection can be hidden out of the way with a single click. You can display just one or display them all. You can even place Matter Widgets onto different workspaces so you can view your data in different context.

The MatterDesktop and its widgets are hidden from sight until you enter a Matter Reference or Matter ID into the matter lookup field, the MatterDesktop comes alive with all the data related to the selected Matter. This isn't static text but actual forms and list. You can add related contacts, send Email or simply mark to-do's as complete all from within the MatterDesktop.

Your data viewed your way. Each Staff member's view is saved to their User Profile automatically. We think this new tool will reduce the time spent searching and clicking for what matters most to you.

1 Click Document PDF Data Merges

You can create document templates that merge with Matter, Event and Client data. From any Matter you can generate a PDF using your template, data will be merged and the PDF will be automatically full text indexed, linked to the Matter and accessible right from any Matter document tab.

This is a wonderful way to generate the documentation required for a case. Simply open the Matter, navigate to the documents tabs, select one or more templates and click generate. PDF will immediately appear. You can also select one or more of these newly generated PDFs send them to anyone with a single click. Now that is productivity.

You can create Email templates that merge with Matter, Event and Client data. Form any Event you can generate a Email using any Email template you desire.

4 Dimensional Custom Fields

Like all modern Practice Management products the ability to create custom fields for the collection of vital information is a must.

With Houdini you not only have the ability to create custom fields but you can create custom fields based on a user defined primary record Type, user defined Sub-type, user defined Status code, and user defined Attributes. Yes, there is an S at the end of attributes. You can add any number of custom fields to a single record based on Type, Sub-type, Status and Attribute.

If that isn't enough, all custom fields are non-destructive. What this means is you can enter data under the custom fields of one status, switch status code, enter new data and revert back to the previous status code at will, without the fear of data loss or corruption. This is a wonderful way to keep your Forms free from custom field clutter and is also a wonderful way to collect data in phases. Show only what is important during any particular phase. Unlike most practice management applications, custom field clutter can be dramatically reduced in Houdini.

This is very powerful addition. Time Matters is one of the most customizable PMS applications on the market and it can't even compare. It is only 1 Dimensional and destructive. If you change anything you risk data corruption, not with Houdini. The future is now, the future in HoudiniESQ.

Custom Forms

Not all data belongs on the primary record forms Matter, Contact and Event. In most cases you collect data that is only useful during a specific phase of a case. You can create Custom Forms complete with their own Custom Fields. These Custom Forms appear under the forms tab of all primary records. For example, you may need to collect creditor information for a bankruptcy case. This information needs to be conveniently located but out of the way. HoudiniESQ Custom Forms are the answer. Custom forms also have a Type, Sub-type, Status and can have any number of Attributes so you can add 4 dimensional custom fields to Houdini forms as well.

Lightning Fast Appointment Finder

Our new blazingly fast appointment finder allows you to quickly find or schedule an appointment time with just a click. Say goodbye to scheduling conflicts. You can find available times slots for any duration by Staff or Calendar for any given day.

Find a available appointment slot, schedule the appointment and send a confirmation Email all with a single click. You can choose any of your Email Merge templates during the process. The appointment will be scheduled and your client will receive a confirmation Email. You can even schedule appointments from the Roster or the Contact form using this quick tool.

MS Word Plugin

Having to upload and download, then locate the file, then open the file in its native application is not very productive and is one of the worst user experiences a web-based product can have.

Our new plug-in for MS Word allows you to open, edit and save documents from within MS Word with just a click. View all documents associated with a Matter, edit and save to Houdini. Works with both your SaaS account or Elite, Practice and Solo.

Group Fees and Expenses

You can define a set of fees and expenses and group them for easy selection. For example, some task may have one or more set fees such as court cost, filling fees etc. You can pre define them, give them a name and select them from any of the worksheets.

HoudiniESQ supports full text search of documents, its databases, Email, Email attachments and eDiscovery databases such as Google Scholar, Lexis-Nexis and others. All tightly integrated with Matters and Contacts.

Bulk upload documents to a Matter or Contact with ease. Select the documents to upload, select which Matter they are regarding and with a click the documents are indexed.

Need a client's Email indexed for future use? No problem. Simply select the Matter the Email is regarding and its body, subject and all its attachments are indexed.

Search public and private databases such as Google Scholar like they were local with a single click of your mouse.
