How are Rates managed in HoudiniESQ
Rates are specified at the Matter level using a Rate type. For example, a rate type would be Discount, Base or Premium. Once you define your Matter Rate Types your Staff can enter their rates for each.
Rate Types are at the Organization level and managed via the Organization Manager. Only Staff members with Admin privileges can access the Organization Manager.
You can define as many Matter Rate Types as you wish.
When the Staff member creates a Matter they can choose a Matter Rate Types.
For example, one of your Staff members creates a Matter for a government agency. The Staff member chooses Premium as the Matter rate. Now whenever a task is performed regarding this Matter the Premium Rate will be used in all calculations.
HoudiniESQ allows you to specify a Rate at the Task/Event level. Event rates override Matter rates.
You can specify Event/Task rate overrides in "My Profile" or create them at the time the Event is Being Created by using the Task Rate button on the Event form as depicted above.
For example, a Matter may have a Premium rate assigned at $300hr but the Event/Task being performed has a rate of only $100hr ( or $100 per occurrence ). Houdini will use the Event/Task rate in its calculations not the $300hr Premium rate.
