Houdini Native Sync

Postby LisaBercheck on Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:05 pm

So I signed up for the Houdini Native Sync last night. I was really excited. After going through the registration process twice (my fault for not selecting the correct device) I finally could see my device listed under My Profile.

I was totally lost after that. I didn't see any contacts or events in the native BB apps. ?what gives? I thought. I figured it would take a while since I have a lot of contacts and a busy schedule.

I woke up this morning expecting to see Houdini data on my BB but nothing. I went back to the sign up page and reread all the instructions. Doh! I missed the "Get My Sync" link which listed all the client downloads for all the devices. The page clearly says that some phones already have a sync app and that should be used or I could use one from the page. I was curious so I downloaded the BB sync app.

After entering the URL, my user name and password the sync icon started to spin. Now I'm excited. I immediately went to address book expecting to see my new Houdini items but nothing. I figured I entered the wrong password and was about to go back to the sync setup when I saw items start to appear in my BB address book. Very cool. I was so excited I called Houdini support to praise the sync but its Saturday and no one picked up. So twitter and this forum will have to do for now.

Great job guys.

In case you didn't notice native sync has been dropped for a web-based mobile version. The reason is the iPhone. It can take up to 10 days for our apps to appear and if we want to update it can even take longer.

Instead of working around these issues we created a web based version of our mobile app that looks and feels like a native iPhone app on all phones. It even looks and acts like a native app on the Android and BlackBerry.

We have gotten a lot of praise for our mobile app simply because it isn't what you would expect from a web based mobile app.

Hello:

I am beginning to get into this program and am really impressed with it. I am wondering if there is a way to send calendar data from the program to the web (i.e., my smartphone or ipod touch). I am using the solo version, so it is not set up on the web.

I have figured out how to get from Google Cals to the program, but not the other way around. When I link with google, I lose the relationships and have to set the references up again in Houdini.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

James,

You will want to download the Solo update which has mobile access. Available end of March 2010.
